To
locate materials (books, magazines and journals, audiovisual materials,
and computer programs) through the online library catalog from Pearl River's
home page www.prcc.edu use the following steps:

Place
cursor on Libraries and click on the box labled Garvin H. Johnston Library.

on Online Library Catalog link from the Libraries' Welcome page.

This will
take you into the Online Catalog.

Type in
your search.

on the drop down arrow located to the left of the search box to choose
the appropriate search option.

Once you have clicked on the appropriate search option your search results
page should appear. This screen will tell you how many items were

the screen is the location information, Garvin H. Johnston Library, Forrest
County Center Library, or Hancock Center Library, how many copies of the
item each campus has and the location within the library. eBooks

Orientation
- Online Books (eBooks)
The
library has subscribed to online books that are available through the online
library catalog or through netLibrary on the Online Resources page on the
Libraries' site.
In
order to access an online book, you must create an ebook account.
The
student must have an email account to create their ebook account.
Creating
an eBook account
-
Place
cursor on Libraries and click on the box labled Garvin H. Johnston Library.
-
Click
on the ONLINE RESOURCES button on the left side of the page.
-
Click
on the netLibrary link.
-
The netLibrary
website will appear.
-
Click
on Create a Free Account on the right side of the screen and fill out the
informaiton.
-
Click
Submit then click Accept.
-
Exit site
by clicking Log out.
To
view an eBook
-
Search
PRCC online library catalog.
-
From the
list of materials retrieved, eBooks will be indicated on the left of the
screen with a URL link.
-
Click
on the URL link.
-
Click
Log in at top of screen.
-
Type in
your User name and Password then click the log in button.
-
Choose
one of the following: Browse this eBook online or Check out and read
online.

Click
Log out to exit
Things
to Remember...
-
Students
must be on a campus to create an eBook account or contact the library at
601-403-1332.
-
Students
must first have an email account before creating an ebook account.
-
The ebook
account must be created first before students can view the material.
-
When searching
the catalog an online book will be indicated by the words ONLINE in
the location and netLibraryBooks for the material type.
-
While
in the catalog a student can check out or read the eBook online for 4 hours.
When the student leaves the catalog, logs out or 4 hours have passed the
eBook is no longer checked out to the student.

by the Mississippi Legislature. MAGNOLIA provides online databases

I. EBSCOhost
To
find magazine and journal articles through EBSCOhost from the PRCC home
page www.prcc.edu
use the following steps:

cursor on Libraries and click on the box labled Garvin H. Johnston Library.

Click
on the ONLINE RESOURCES button on the left side of the screen.
-
Click
on The Magnolia Project link.

Click
on the database or databases from the list on the left side of the screen
that best fits your subject. (ex. Academic
Search Elite-this is the most useful to the majority of college students)

The next
screen will ask you for a password. Type in the appropriate password from
the list above.

Again
click on the database or databases from the list on the left side of the
screen that best fits your subject. (ex.
Academic Search Elite-this is the most useful to the majority of college
students)

The next
screen is your search screen, type in your subject. To retrieve the
full text articles, make sure that you have clicked on the box marked Full
Text and the box marked search within full text articles. If these
boxes are not checked the database will pull up abstracts of articles.
To obtain professional, scholarly (peer reviewed) journals, make sure that
you have clicked on that box. After typing in your search and placing
check marks in the boxes, click on search to retrieve your hits.

Search Premier
Provides
full text for nearly 4,700 publications, including full text for more than
3,600 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area
of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1975.
This database is updated on a daily basis via EBSCOhost.
Business
Source Elite
Provides
full text for 1,133 scholarly business journals, including full text for
more than 500 peer-reviewed business publications. The rich collection
of titles in Business Source Elite provides information dating back to
1985. This database is updated on a daily basis via EBSCOhost.
Clinical
Pharmacology
Provides
access up-to-date, concise and clinically-relevant drug monographs for
all U.S. prescription drugs, hard-to-find herbal and nutritional supplements,
over-the-counter products and new and investigational drugs.
ERIC
The
Educational Resource Information Center contains more than 2,200 digests
along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts
from over 980 educational and education-related journals.
Funk
& Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia
Provides
over 25,000 encyclopedic entries. Searchable by subject or keywords within
the entry.
Health
Source: Consumer Edition
The
richest collection of consumer health information available to libraries
worldwide, providing information on many health topics including the medical
sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general
health. This database provides searchable full text for nearly 300
journals.
Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition
This
database provides more than 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on
many medical disciplines. It also features abstracts and indexing
for nearly 850 journals. This database is updated on a daily basis.
MAS
Online Plus
This
database provides indexing and abstracts for over 350 general interest
and current events magazines, including full text for more than 300.
It also includes over 400 full text pamphlets and 13 full text reference
books. This database is updated daily via EBSCOhost.
MasterFILE
Premier
Designed
specifically for public libraries, this multidisciplinary database provides
full text for nearly 2,050 general reference publications with full text
information dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually every
subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Premier also includes more
than 350 full text reference books, 82,968 biographies, 90,915 primary
source documents, and an Image Collection of 107,135 photos, maps and flags.
This database is updataed daily via EBSCOhost.

Provides
selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers.
This database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts,
and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers.

Regional Business News
This
database provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business
publications. Regional Business News incorporates coverage of 75
business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural
areas within the United States. This database if updated on a daily
basis.
Serials
Directory
Provides
access to the most up-to-date and accurate bibliographic information as
well as current pricing structures for popular serials. This database
contains nearly 184,000 U.S. and international titles, including newspapers,
historical data for an additional 20,000 titles and data from nearly 83,500
publishers worldwide.

Literary Criticism - Select
Provides
an extensive collection of critical essays on contemporary writers. Each
CLC Select entry also contains a biographical/critical introduction including
pseudonyms and nationality, a listing of principal works, and sources for
further study.
Contemporary Authors
Provides
current biographical and bibliographical information on modern authors
of fiction, general nonfiction, poetry, journalism, drama, motion pictures,

WILSON BIOGRAPHIES
Contains
the full text of 39,000 profiles of notable individuals taken from biographical
reference works such as Current Biography, Junior Authors and Illustrators,
World Artists, Nobel Prize Winners, and Spanish American Authors. The database
is searchable by name, profession, place of origin, gender, race/ethnicity,
date of birth, and keyword.

MELO
(Mississippi Electronic Libraries Online)
is an electronic environment that mirrors the traditional library through
online databases, electronic books and journals, and scholarly websites.
It strives to collect, store and organize information on a broad range
of subjects. By encouraging cooperative efforts of the Mississippi
Community Colleges and by promoting economic delivery of information, MELO
supports the needs and interests of students and faculty. Content
for the collection is examined for its currency, usefulness and relevancy
within the scope of appropriate academic materials. Selection considerations
include appearance as to design, content, authority, and ease of accessibility.

- Humanities Index Online
Or
Essay and General Literature Index
The
Humanities Index Online provides journal articles in the humanities
disciplines: literature, religion, philosophy, and music. It also
includes subjects that are traditionally considered to be social sciences,
such as archaeology, area studies, and journalism. Indexing goes
back as far as 1984 for some journals, with full-text coverage for selected
titles beginning in 1995. A tab in the Help screen leads to information
about journal coverage, and this list includes start/end dates of indexing
and/or full-text coverage as well as peer review status. At this
point 506 titles are listed in the Humanities database, including active
as well as ceased or dropped titles.
Essay
and General Literature Index is a bibliographic database that cites
essays and articles contained in collections of essays and miscellaneous
works published in the Unted States, Great Britain, and Canada. More
than 300 volumes and more than 20 annuals and serial publications are indexed
each year. Essay
and General Literature Index also provides full bibliographic information
on collective titles indexed and focuses on the humanities and social sciences,
with subject coverage ranging from economics, political science, and history
to criticism of literary works, drama, and film.

Research is an original and comprehensive report and analysis on issues
in the news. The single themed CQ Researcher report offers in-depth,
