Why chose Pearl River Community College?
Pearl River Community College was founded as Pearl River County Agricultural High School in 1909 and first offered college courses in 1921. As Mississippi’s oldest 2-year public college, PRCC has a long history of offering students the best possible education at the best price, sometimes costing less than one-third what you would pay at a 4-year college or university, or one-tenth what you would pay at a private college.
Small classes differentiate PRCC’s learning experience. PRCC classes are kept at less than 30 students. With a lower student to teacher ratio, you get the individual attention only offered in much more expensive private colleges. In the university setting, you can become just a student ID number in classes that sometimes are as large as 250-300 students.
The big college feel is another reason to choose PRCC. With some of the finest dormitories of any college or university in the state, an athletic program that excels in every sport, and plenty of student activities and programs, you will say good-bye to high school and hello to college life at PRCC.
Instructors who are qualified and dedicated to your success are just one more of the many reasons to choose PRCC. Each instructor meets rigorous requirements. Academic instructors are required to have a Master’s Degree plus 30 additional hours in the course they teach. Many instructors hold a doctorate in their field. With no research requirements, PRCC instructors are dedicated to one thing and one thing only, your successful experience in college, so you can be assured that no graduate students will teach your classes while the professor is away doing research.
