Andrews elected Homecoming Queen

POPLARVILLE – Michaela Aliss Andrews of Foxworth has been elected 2015 Homecoming Queen at Pearl River Community College.
She will be crowned at half time of PRCC’s football game against Northeast Mississippi Community College on Saturday, Oct. 17, following a day of activities.
Her court includes sophomore maids Renelle Elena Failla of Picayune and Katherine Johnson of Tylertown, Forrest County Center sophomore maid Demayah Johnson of Hattiesburg, Hancock Center maid Maranda Dawn Bennett of Pearlington, freshman maids Cassady Marie Compretta of Bay St. Louis, Virginia Ellen Hall of Purvis and Courtney Logan King of Columbia and Forrest County Center freshman maid Alexis Shacara Pickens of Hattiesburg.
The court will mingle with alumni and guests at and near Crosby Hall before the 11:30 a.m. Alumni Luncheon and host a Lil Princesses Tea Party at 12 p.m. in the lobby of the Brownstone Center for children attending the Lil Wildcat Cheer Clinic and the public. There is no charge for the Tea Party. Kickoff of the football game will be at 2 p.m.
Andrews, 21, is the daughter of Jack and Jackie Andrews of Foxworth. She is a graduate of West Marion High School where she was show choir president, band drum major and voted Most Talented.
At PRCC, she has served as Student Government Association freshman class president and executive president and as a student representative on the Quality Enhancement Plan and Policy and Procedures committees. She was elected Miss PRCC for 2014-15.
Andrews is a member of the Spirit of the River marching, the River Navigators recruitment team and the Student Alumni Association, is a ROAR orientation leader for incoming freshmen and a staff member at the Student Life Center. She attends Pleasant Valley Methodist Church.
A social work major, she plans to transfer to the University of Southern Mississippi to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees before pursuing a clinical doctor’s degree at Xavier University. Her long-range goal is to be an administrator at PRCC.
Failla, 20, is the daughter of David and Cindy Failla of Picayune. She graduated through the  Mother of Divine Grace Catholic homeschool program and was a National 4-H Congress delegate and state 4-H Club vice president.
Failla is co-president of Phi Theta Kappa honor society at PRCC, an Honors Institute student and a charter member of the Student Alumni Association. She was fourth runner-up and Miss Congeniality in the 2015 Miss PRCC Wildcat pageant.
She plans to transfer to Mississippi State University to study mechanical engineering
Katherine Johnson, 19, is the daughter of Brett and Susan Johnson of Tylertown. A graduate of West Marion High School, she was 2014 salutatorian, Miss West Marion, homecoming queen, “Wes the Trojan” mascot and a member of Columbia’s Crown Club.
At Pearl River, she is PTK vice president for fellowship, mascot “W.C. Rivers,” an Honors Institute student and a charter member of the Student Alumni Association. She was 2014 freshman class president.
She plans to transfer to MSU to major in educational psychology and pursue a master’s degree in school counseling at William Carey University.
Demayah Johnson, 20, is the daughter of Maurice Johnson and Beana Woods of Manhattan, N.Y., and a Hattiesburg High School alumnus.
She is an honor roll student majoring in information technology and has received two certificates in office systems technology. She is an active member of West Point Baptist Church and a classical pianist.
Johnson plans to earn an accounting degree and pursue a career as a certified public accountant.
Bennett, 19, is the daughter of Eddie and Stacey Bennett of Pearlington. She is a graduate of Hancock High School where she was president of the SADD Club, senior class representative on the Student Council, a member of two homecoming courts and voted Most Beautiful.
At PRCC’s Hancock Center, she is on the Student Government Association and is a member of the Student Alumni Association. She also volunteers with the Diamond Club of Pearlington. She is majoring in drafting and design and hopes to enter the work world after graduation.
Compretta, 18, is the daughter of Jani and Rob Compretta of Bay St. Louis. At Bay High School, she was Miss Bay High, homecoming queen, a cheerleader and member of the dance team, SADD Club and Diamond Girls. She was voted Most Likely to Be Famous.
She is a member of the String of Pearls dance team at Pearl River along with RiverRoad show choir and PRCC Singers choir. She hopes to be a professional actress.
Hall, 18, is the daughter of Rett and Robbie Hall of Purvis. A Purvis High School graduate, she was captain of the Dazzlers dance team, a bat girl, a member of the LCA Riptides Allstar Cheer national champions, an honors student and Mississippi Scholar.
At PRCC, she is a nursing student and plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in bariatric nursing. She is an active member of Venture Church in Hattiesburg.
King, 18, is the daughter of Billy and Amey King of Columbia. At Columbia High School, she was color guard captain and Student Council reporter, played lead roles in several musicals and was voted Most Talented. She was the second top female archer in the state in 2012 and a five-year member of the archery team.
She is majoring in nursing at Pearl River and is a member of the Spirit of the River color guard. She plans to transfer to USM to study to become a nurse practitioner.
Pickens, 18, is the daughter of Pamela and Albert Pickens Jr. of Hattiesburg. She is a graduate of Oak Grove High School where she was a basketball cheerleader and ran cross-country on the track and field team.
At PRCC’s Forrest County Center, she is freshman class president and is majoring in radiology technology. She plans to transfer to the University of South Alabama to earn a bachelor’s degree in radiology.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
