Boone, Johnson elected Mr., Miss PRCC

  POPLARVILLE – Two top students who are also involved in athletics at Pearl River Community College have been elected Mr. and Miss PRCC.
Zachary Todd Boone of Sandy Hook is Mr. PRCC and Katherine Elise Johnson of Tylertown is Miss PRCC.
  Sophomore class favorites on the Poplarville campus are Belle Failla of Picayune and Joshua Neal of Purvis; Mella Stokes of Hattiesburg and Tyler Abney of Purvis, Forrest County Center; and Ashley Taylor of Kiln and Christopher Edenfield of Diamondhead, Hancock Center.
  Freshman class favorites are Mary Kate Lott of Purvis and Eli Arcement of Kiln, Poplarville campus; Alexis Pickens and Kevin Craft, both of Hattiesburg, Forrest County Center; Samantha Hipps of Pearlington and Juwan Hollins of Waveland, Hancock Center.
  Boone, 19, is the son of Stacey and Vicki Boone of Sandy Hook. A graduate of Columbia High School, he is a pitcher on the Wildcat baseball team, a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership team and Phi Theta Kappa scholastic honor society. He plans to attend Mississippi State University to pursue a degree in chemical engineering.
  Johnson, 20, has been the Wildcat mascot, W.C. Rivers, for two years. The daughter of Brett and Susan Johnson of Tylertown, she is a graduate of West Marion High School and plans to study educational psychology at MSU. She is a member of the FCA leadership team, PTK vice president of fellowship and an orientation leader. Johnson was a sophomore maid in the 2015 Homecoming court and freshman class president.
  Failla, 21, is the daughter of David and Cindy Failla of Picayune. A graduate of Mother of Divine Grace, she is co-president of PTK and a member of the Student Alumni Association, first runner-up in the Miss PRCC Wildcat pageant and a sophomore maid in the 2015 Homecoming court. She was named to the All-Mississippi PTK Academic Second Team and was PRCC’s student honoree at HEADWAE events in Jackson. She plans to return to PRCC next year before transferring to MSU to study mechanical engineering.
  Neal, 20, is the son of William and Cheri Neal of Purvis. He is a member of the RiverRoad showchoir and PRCC Singers choir and a peer leader in the Student Success Center. He plans to participate in the Disney College Program before transferring to the University of Southern Mississippi to study secondary English education. He is a graduate of Purvis High School.
  Lott is the 19-year-old daughter of Matt and Amy Lott of Purvis. A graduate of Purvis High School, she is a member of the River Navigators recruitment team and FCA and won the 2016 Miss PRCC Wildcat pageant. She plans to attend USM next year.
Arcement, 18, is the son of Leslie Ladner and Brian Arcement of Kiln. A graduate of Hancock High School, he is a member of the Wildcat basketball team. He plans to return to PRCC next year.
Forrest County Center
  Stokes, 20, is the daughter of Trondalette and Jerry Scott of Hattiesburg. A graduate of Forrest County Agricultural High School, she is president of the Forrest County Center Student Government Association and secretary of the History and Humanities Club. She plans to transfer to William Carey University next year to study elementary education.
  Abney, 20, is the son of Brooke Abney and Norman Abney of Purvis. A graduate of Purvis High School, he plans to transfer to the University of Mississippi to study history and English. He is vice president of the Beta Tau Gamma PTK chapter, president of the Alpha Epsilon chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta English honor society, sophomore class president and a peer leader at the Student Success Center. He was named to the All-Mississippi PTK Academic Second Team.
  Pickens, 18, is the daughter of Pamela and Albert Pickens Jr. of Hattiesburg. A graduate of the Mississippi Youth Challenge Academy, she is freshman class president and was a freshman maid in the 2015 Homecoming Court. She plans to return to PRCC next year with a long-term goal of studying forensic sciences.
  Craft, 18, is the son of Lisa and Craig Craft of Hattiesburg. A graduate of Oak Grove High School, he is a member of PTK, the Baptist Student Union and the Social Science Club. He will return to PRCC next year with plans to major in psychology.
Hancock Center
  Taylor, 26, is the daughter of Jennifer Jermyn of Vancleave and Ray Taylor of Woolmarket. She is a graduate of Ocean Springs High School, a member of PTK and a library assistant at the Hancock Center. She plans to attend the USM Gulf Park campus to study psychology.
  Edenfield, 20, is the son of Valerie and Kenneth Edenfield of Diamondhead. A graduate of Hancock High School, he is a member of PTK. He also plans to study psychology at USM Gulf Park.
  Hipps, 18, is the daughter of Tiffany and Paul Baughman of Lakeshore. She is a graduate of Hancock High School and president of the Hancock Center Student Government Association. She plans to transfer to Tulane to study pre-medicine after finishing the associate’s degree at PRCC.
  Hollins, 18, is the son of Tara Kutscherenko of Waveland. A graduate of Hancock High School, he is a member of PTK. He plans to transfer to USM to study sports management after finishing the associate’s degree at PRCC.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
