Mississippi Showchoir Contest coming up

  POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College will host the Mississippi Showchoir Contest Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5 and 6, at the Brownstone Center for the Arts.
  The contest is for middle and high school showchoirs and serves as a fundraiser for RiverRoad, the PRCC showchoir, and other choral groups.
  Friday’s competition begins at 3:30 p.m. and includes showchoirs from Poplarville Middle School, Baxterville, Columbia Academy, Laurel Middle School, Pearl River Central, West Jones and Northeast Jones in Class A and Petal Middle School, South Jones and Jackson Prep in Class AA.
  Exhibition performances will include PRCC’s The Voices ensemble at 7 p.m., Petal Upper Elementary showchoir at 8:05 p.m. and RiverRoad at 10:10 p.m. Awards will be given at 10:30 p.m.
  Saturday’s competition begins at 9 a.m. with Columbia Academy, Crestview, Fla., and Biloxi in the small mixed group category; Crestview, Picayune, Pearl River Central, Auburn and Petal in the women’s division; Sumrall and Pearl River Central in the medium mixed division; Jackson Prep, Auburn and Petal in the large mixed division.
  RiverRoad and The Voices will perform at 4:15 before preliminary awards are presented.
  Finalist competition begins at 6:30 p.m. and concludes with awards at 9:15 p.m.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
