Poplarville students visit PRCC studios

POPLARVILLE – Fifteen computer graphics technology students at Poplarville High School spent Monday learning more about digital media at Pearl River Community College.The students visited the PRCC Television and Film Productions sound stage and the post-production studio, learning about lighting, sound and green screen usage, said Donna Storrs, PHS instructor.”This is the first of what we hope will be more workshops for students from other area high schools,” said Ronn Hague, PRCC digital media coordinator.The students also learned about the Healthy People Now! program from Hague, who is the program''s video director. The program produces and distributes age-appropriate videos about health-related topics to schools in Pearl River and Hancock counties.”The students have the opportunity to work as interns on the Health People Now! shoots,” Storrs said.The PHS computer graphics technology program is a two-year program in the Career Development Center. In addition to digital media, the curriculum includes print media, photography, radio and legal issues, including ethics and copyright law, Storrs said.”The first nine weeks is digital production, which is why we want to work so closely with Ronn,” she said.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
