PRCC hosts junior high math competition

  POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College hosted the District Level Math Competition for junior high and middle school students on Monday, Feb. 29, on the Poplarville campus.
  First place in seventh grade went to Wyatt Carter from Petal Middle School with classmate Quinn Puckett taking second place.
  Thomas Sanchez, also from Petal Middle School, took first place in eighth grade. Second place went to Grayson Nocera from Presbyterian Christian School.
  They will advance to the state competition on April 9 at Hinds Community College. The competition is sponsored annually by the Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
  Apples Ltd. and Global Contracting donated prizes and cash for the awards.
  Other schools competing were Bassfield High, Hancock Middle, Our Lady Academy, Prentiss High, Middle School of Poplarville, South Forrest Attendance Center, Central Baptist, Sacred Heart, North Forrest High and West Marion High.


Sponsor Kim Hinton accompanied seventh graders Wyatt Carter, from left, and Quinn Puckett  and eighth graders Thomas Sanchez and Justin Clark when they represented the Petal Middle School at the MCTM District Math Competition Feb. 29 at Pearl River Community College. Carter and Sanchez placed first and Puckett took home second place.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
