River soccer sweeps ECCC

DECATUR – Pearl River Community College”s women”s and men”s soccer squads swept MACJC non-division foe East Central here Monday.The Lady Wildcats took a lopsided 6-1 victory to improve to 7-1-1 overall, while the Wildcats were convincing 5-2 victors and are now 8-2-1.In the women”s game, PRCC led 3-0 at the intermission, then outscored host ECCC 3-1 in the second half to take the victory.Jordan Organ of Forrest County AHS and Heather Smith of Oak Grove High scored two goals each for the Lady Wildcats, while Santana Adams of Hurley (East Central High) and Payton Morris of Petal High had solo scores. Adams, Brittany Albe of Bay St. Louis (Guam High), Tonya Blas-Cruz of Yona, Guam; Stephanie Fratesi of Greenville, and Organ all had assists.Carrie Rushing scored East Central”s sole goal in the second half.In the men”s game, the Wildcats took a commanding 5-0 lead at the break, then cruised to the victory despite a two-goal effort by the host Warriors.Jeremy Anderson of Moss Point High and Jamarius Gray of Hattiesburg High had two goals each for PRCC, while Austin Slade of Poplarville High had a solo score. Tyler Szura of Forrest County AHS had two assists for the Wildcats, while Yosef Amador of Picayune High, Jacob Foulon of Pearl River Central, and Gray had one assist a piece.Miguel Medrano and Jackson Therrian had goals for East Central in the second half.PRCC returns to MACJC South Division action Wednesday against Southwest Mississippi in Summit with game times at 1 p.m. (women) and 3 p.m. (men).

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
