MOORHEAD - Pearl River Community College split with Mississippi Delta in MACJC non-division women''s and men''s basketball action here Monday with the Lady Wildcats taking a 54-50 victory, while the Wildcat squad fell 63-57. PRCC''s women improved to 2-2 overall, while its men dropped to 2-3. MDCC''s women, on the other hand, saw their mark even up at 2-2 with the setback; while its men improved to 3-1. In the women''s game, the two teams battled to a 23-23 stalemate at the intermission, but the Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Trojans 31-27 in the second half to take the four-point victory. Toy Johnson of Pascagoula High (five assists) and Daiquari Raine of Poplarville High (10 rebounds) led Pearl River with 11 points each, while Shanta'' Echols of Sumrall High added 10 (six rebounds), Quentessa Bullock of East Marion High eight (four rebounds), Samantha Gunn out of Velma Jackson High in Canton eight, Alayna Bridges of Oak Grove High four, and Lolecia Richardson out of Provine High in Jackson two. Stephanie Fratesi out of Washington High in Leland hauled in six boards for The River. For Delta, Anissa Wilder led the way with a game-high 14 points (nine rebounds), while Deshaundra Eatmon added eight (seven rebounds), Jocelyn Jordan seven, Dominque Walker six, Calmetta Greyer five (five rebounds), Myiesha Stewart four (four rebounds), Shanarika McCullum and Hannah Robinson, two each; and Shuntequa Lofton and Jessica Triplett, one each. Pearl River hit 50 percent (12 of 24) from the free throw line to Mississippi Delta''s 72.7 percent (16 of 22), while the Lady Wildcats were 21 of 52 (40.4 percent) from the field to the Lady Trojans'' 15-of-54 (27.8 percent) effort. From three-point range, PRCC zilched on four trey attempts, while MDCC was four of 10 (40 percent). Delta had the edge in rebounding with 40 to The River''s 35. In the men''s game, the Pearl River trailed 31-25 at the break, but battled the Trojans to a 32-32 deadlock in the second half only to come up seven points shy of victory. Yondarius Johnson, a Grambling State (La.) transfer from Plain Dealing, La., led the Wildcats with 12 points (four rebounds); while Daron Bell of Bay High (five rebounds), Zane Knowles, another Grambling transfer from Nassau, Bahamas (four rebounds), and Quentin Watkins out of Lanier High in Jackson (four rebounds) added 10 a piece. Raheem England of Decatur (Ala.) High and Jamaiason Hadley out of East Side High in Cleveland scored four each, while Josh Carpenter of Oak Grove High added three and Jeremy Moore out of Jim Hill High in Jackson and Marcus Rawls of Picayune High scored two each. For Delta, Danny Bolden led the way with 12 points (six rebounds), while LaQuavius Cotton, Karahzion Crawford (12 rebounds), and Harry Williams (five rebounds) scored nine a piece. Pearl River hit 60.7 percent (14 of 23) from the free throw line to Mississippi Delta''s 53.8 percent (14 of 26), while the Wildcats were 20 of 58 (34.5 percent) from the field to the Trojans'' 21-of-47 (44.7 percent) effort.
