Six Wildcat players eye Juco All-Star Classic

POPLARVILLE Six Pearl River Community College sophomore football standouts will participate in the 37th-annual MACJC All-Star Classic set for Saturday at Northeast Mississippi CC campus in Booneville. Thirteen of the MACJC 14 schools will have players on the North and South division teams with the exception of state champion Mississippi Gulf Coast, which will host Grand Rapids (Mich.) in the third-annual Mississippi Bowl at Biloxi High School Stadium Sunday. PRCC participants on the South squad include offensive lineman Zac Blackwell out of Oak Grove High in Hattiesburg, place kicker Travis Bradley of Pascagoula High, defensive back Delvin Ervin out of Oak Grove High in Hattiesburg, defensive lineman Joel Clems of Hattiesburg High, offensive lineman Colin Johnson of Picayune High, and linebacker Jarvis McCann of Hattiesburg High. Thirty-three member rosters are selected from the MACJC North and South divisions for the game. A minimum of three players are selected from each institution with the remainder of the squads selected by the All-Star Classic coaches. No more than eight players from one school can be on a team. The MACJC All-Star Classic has been a springboard for community college players to the senior college level. Each team will have three practices before the Dec. 5 game. Itawamba head coach Jon Williams and his staff will coach the North Division squad, while Jones County head coach Eddie Pierce and his staff will coach the South. A 1 p.m. kickoff is set for the game in Tiger Stadium on the NEMCC campus. Each team has won 17 over the previous 36 annual meetings, while there has been two ties. Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
