2010 Region XXIII Tournament kicks off Thursday at Hinds
Fourth-seeded PRCC opens play against host Hinds

POPLARVILLE - Pearl River head baseball coach Jamie McMahon takes his Wildcats into Region 23 Tournament play this week at Hinds CC in Raymond.

This year's double-elimination event, which starts Thursday and ends Saturday, is comprised of the top three finishers in last week's MACJC State Tournament played at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson, along with defending regional and national champ LSU-Eunice (La.), which is currently ranked No. 3 nationally by the NJCAA in Division II.

Hinds grabs the No. 1 regional seed after winning the MACJC title, while state runner up East Central is No. 2, LSU-E No. 3, and Pearl River No. 4 after finishing third in the state tournament.

Here is a breakdown of the tournament bracket:

THURSDAY

GAME 1: LSU-Eunice (43-11) vs. East Central (38-17), 3 p.m.

GAME 2: Pearl River (26-27) vs. Hinds (30-19), 6:30 p.m.

FRIDAY

GAME 3: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 12 noon

GAME 4: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2, 3:30 p.m.

GAME 5: Winner Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4, 7 p.m.

SATURDAY

GAME 6: Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5, 1 p.m.

GAME 7: If necessary, 30 minutes after Game 6.
