Athletic Facilities
Dobie Holden Stadium
Dobie Holden Stadium, constructed
in 1966, seats 4,000 fans on the home side and 1,000 fans on the visitors
side, and has seen some of the finest community college football action
in the state. The facility features chair back seating in the reserved
and features press facilities on the home side. The concrete stadium has
dressing areas under the home side and features refreshment areas under
both sides. The stadium is named for coaching legend, Thomas Dobie Holden
(1948-1966), who is credited with 8 state championships and one national
championship during his tenure. The north end of the field is reserved
for tailgating and alumni functions. Visitor parking is located on
the north and east sides of the stadium, while the home side utilizes the
east and south sides of the stadium. The stadium is also home to
Poplarville High School's Hornets. (Poplarville High School was once
a part of Pearl River College.)
Marvin R. White Coliseum
White Coliseum, PRCC's main
sports arena, has a seating capacity of 3,000, with offices, dressing rooms.
This facility, named for former Pearl River Junior College president, Marvin
Ross White (1968-1986), features the school,s basketball games. The
lobby area has a refreshment facility and features the school's athletic
cases and the Sports Hall of Fame.
Wildcat Field
Wildcat Field is home to
the PRCC Wildcat's baseball team. This fine facility has recently
been completely redone and features a new covered stadium with chair back
seats and press facilities; a new scoreboard; a new field house that contains
baseball coaches' offices, dressing room facilities, and a weight training
area; and a new home side dugout. The lighted field, recently upgraded,
represents one of the finest in the league.
PRCC Softball Field
The newly redone softball
field features a new covered stadium with press facilities. The field
also has recently upgraded the fences and boasts a new scoreboard.
PRCC Soccer Field
Although soccer is a recent
addition to the PRCC sports lineup, the field is a first-rate facility.
A new covered stadium is complemented by a new press facility and covered
team shelters. The field is regulation size and the facility was
opened in 1999.
PRCC Tennis Courts
PRCC's tennis facility features
3 lighted courts and 2 unlighted courts for a total of 5. This facility
is open year-round to students and the public except when in use by the
PRCC Tennis Team or when the courts are being used for tennis classes.
PRCC Football Practice Field
The new football practice
field is a fine practice facility and serves to save the stadium for home
games and other events.
PRCC Wellness Center
The PRCC Wellness Center
serves the athletic teams as well as students and staff as a well staffed
and maintained facility with exercise machines, free weights, an indoor
track, aerobics exercise room and offices and classroooms for members of
the Health, Physical Education & Recreation faculty. The 10,000
square foot facility was opened in 1997 and is a part of the Nursing and
Wellness facility. |
