Crosby
Hall
In
1921 the PRCAHS board of directors awarded a contract to build a new dining
hall. It was a two story structure that housed the dining facilities
for the boarding agricultural high school on the first floor and additional
dormitory space on the second floor. As time went by, the upper dormitory
space was converted to offices, but the dining hall remained in use.
In
1995 the structure was completely remodeled and now serves as a center
for students. The center is comprised of Crosby Hall and the new
cafeteria. The remodeled Crosby Hall section is now the home for
the grill, post office, nurse's station, security offices, offices for
counselors and a new bookstore. The cafeteria addition was opened
in 1994. This addition houses the 600 seat Olivia Bender Cafeteria,
named in honor of "Ms. Livie" a member of the cafeteria staff for over
50 years. Crosby Hall was named for L.O. Crosby, the South Mississippi
philanthropist.

The bookstore, a
major part of the Student Life Center, offers supplies, clothing, and gifts.
|
The grill, across
the hall from the bookstore, is usually buzzing with students between classes.
|
"Ms. Livie", Olivia Bender,
was honored in 2000 when the Board of Trustees commemorated her 50 years
of dedicated service by naming the cafeteria after her.
