Hancock
Hall
Two buildings
have carried the name "Hancock Hall" over the years. The original Hancock
Hall was a wood framed building that housed Industrial and Vocational Arts.
This building was located between Crosby Hall and Pearl River Hall where
the present Mall is located. This building was razed in the early sixties.
The
present Hancock Hall began its service to the students at PRCC in 1944
as the Band Hall. Later, this wood-framed building was bricked and
a large "L" shaped wing was added on its north side. The building
was re-roofed, bricked and named the Fine Arts Building in 1953.
The building then housed the college's music programs until it was outgrown
in 1972.
The
Pearl River Community College Museum is located in the south wing of the
hall, while offices for the public relations director, his assistant, the
webmaster, and the Wildcat Annual Staff are located in the North wing.
The
central part of the building was named for the public relations director
for his 30 years service and his innumerable contributions to PRCC. The
Larry L. Stanford Communications Center, and houses the Sports Information
director, the award winning Dixie Drawl student newspaper and the
print shop.
Hancock
Hall is located at the corner of River Road and Old Stadium Drive next
to Pearl River Hall and across the street from Jefferson Davis Hall.
