The
Ted J. Alexander Administration Building
The
Student Center was constructed in 1963, the first of the "modern look"
buildings that was soon followed by the Computer Services Building (former
Administration Building), the Learning Resource Center, the Vocational/Technology
Center, and the Academic Building. It is from the skeleton of the
old Student Center that the new Administration Building took shape.
It was completed in May, 1999 and totally built with state bond money,
with no cost to the taxpayers of PRCC's six county district.
This
new building is a two story structure that houses the business offices,
financial aid offices, admissions, and the office of the Dean of Student
Affairs on the first floor. The second floor contains the offices
of the Academic Dean, Office of Institutional Effectiveness & Guidance,
Office of Recruitment & Orientation, and the offices of the President.
The
influence of the nearby New Orleans French Quarter can be seen in the covered
front porch, arched supports, ornamental iron railings and federalist style
windows. It is located at the front of the campus, facing Highway
11. The rear of the building is located on Wildcat Drive.
The
building was named after former PRCC President, Ted J. Alexander, in honor
of his fourteen years of service to the college.
